Avant le Grand dérangement de 1755, avant ce qu'on appelle la déportation des Acadiens, on a déjà des documents historiques qui identifient ces habitants de langue française, de religion catholique-romaine, habitant la Nouvelle- Écosse péninsulaire dans des villages qui portent le nom de Grandpré, de Port-Royal, de Cobequid et de Pichiguid, comme étant des Acadiens.
Before the ``Grand dérangement'' or the exile of 1755, before what is known as the Deportation of the Acadians, there are already historical documents identifying these French-language settlers, who practised the Roman Catholic religion and lived in the Nova Scotia Peninsula in villages with names like Grandpré, Port-Royal, Cobequid and Pichiguid, as Acadians.
