Je regrette que, vu l’évolution et la complexité des textes, la commission n’ait pas révisé sa position datant du 1avril 1987 consistant à donner à ses services l’instruction de procéder à la codification des actes législatifs au plus tard après leur dixième modification, tout en soulignant qu’il s’agissait là d’une règle minimale et que, dans l’intérêt de la clarté et de la bonne compréhension de la législation communautaire, les services devaient s’efforcer de codifier les textes dont ils ont la responsabilité à des intervalles encore plus brefs.
I am sorry that, in view of the development and the complexity of the texts, the Commission has not revised its position dating from the 1 April 1987 and consisting of instructing its services to go ahead and codify all legislative acts no later than after their tenth modification while, at the same time, emphasising that this was a minimum rule and that, in the interests of clarity and proper understanding of Community legislation, the services were to make efforts to codify the texts for which they were responsible at still shorter intervals.
