IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Dans le contexte de 2018, Année européenne du patrimoine culturel, la Commission organise aujourd'hui une conférence à haut niveau sur le thème «Innovation et patrimoine culturel» dans le cadre du programme Horizon 2020, pour présenter quelques-unes des innovations les plus prometteuses en lien avec la préservation et la valorisation du patrimoine culturel européen à l'intention des générations futures.
In the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, the Commission is today organising a High-Level Horizon 2020 Conference on Innovation and Cultural Heritage to present some of the most promising innovations to preserve and treasure Europe's cultural heritage for the next generations.

Ce pilier comprend trois projets - mis en œuvre par la Commission avec les États membres de l'UE, le Conseil de l'Europe et les universités européennes - visant à améliorer les compétences des Européens en matière de patrimoine culturel, à mieux assurer la participation des citoyens à la prise de décisions en matière de patrimoine culturel et à promouvoir le rôle de la science et des technologies dans le domaine du patrimoine culturel.
The innovation pillar consists of three projects – run by the Commission with EU Member States, the Council of Europe and European universities – to improve Europeans' skills on cultural heritage, involve citizens better in making decisions about cultural heritage, and promote the role of science and technologies in cultural heritage.

33. attire l'attention sur la nécessité d'améliorer le cadre méthodologique afin de disposer de meilleures statistiques relatives au domaine du patrimoine culturel; demande à la Commission de proposer un ensemble d'indicateurs pouvant être utilisés pour le suivi et l'évaluation de la situation du patrimoine culturel, uniformes pour tous les pays; insiste sur la nécessité d'obtenir davantage de résultats de recherche pour l'ensemble des aspects du patrimoine culturel et de mettre ces résultats en relation afin de remédier à la fragmentation dans ce domaine; souligne, à cet égard, le potentiel des "big data" pour améliorer le gain de connaissances issu des projets de recherche; souligne que l'estimation des valeurs économiques potentielles et réelles du patrimoine culturel nécessite une collecte systématique des données statistiques;
33. Draws attention to the need to improve the methodological framework in order to have better statistics related to the field of cultural heritage; calls on the Commission to propose a set of indicators that could be used for monitoring and evaluation of the situation of cultural heritage and that would be uniform for all Member States; underlines the need to obtain, to a greater extent, research findings covering all aspects of cultural heritage and to link them so as to counter fragmentation in this area; points in this connection to the potential of ‘big data’ as regards deriving more knowledge from research projects; stresses that in order to assess the actual and potential economic value of the cultural heritage it is essential to collect statistics more systematically;

This report therefore calls for the setting up of a single EU portal dedicated to cultural heritage, collecting information from all the EU programmes funding cultural heritage and structured into three main sections: funding opportunities for cultural heritage, a database with examples of best practices and excellence from the field of cultural heritage and relevant references, news and links about cultural heritage-related policy developments, actions and events.

J. considérant que la vieille ville de Sanaa, site inscrit au patrimoine culturel de l'humanité et est symbole d'une histoire millénaire du savoir, et l'ancienne cité de Marib ont été bombardées, la dernière ayant été complètement détruite par une frappe aérienne; que cette destruction intervient une semaine à peine après celle du musée national de Dhamar, qui abritait quelque 12 500 pièces, témoins du riche patrimoine culturel de la région environnante; que de nombreux autres sites historiques subissent les dégâts collatéraux du conflit armé au Yémen; considérant que les actes de destruction du patrimoine culturel et archéologique ont été qualifiés, dans certaines circonstances, de crimes contre l'humanité et de "nettoyage culturel", et constituent un crime de guerre d'après le statut de Rome de la Cour pénale internationale;
J. whereas the old city of Sana’a, a World Heritage Site which is the symbol of a millennial history of knowledge, and the ancient city of Marib were bombarded and the latter completely destroyed by an airstrike; whereas this destruction came just one week after the National Museum in Dhamar, containing some 12 500 artefacts which bear witness to the rich cultural heritage of the surrounding region, was destroyed; whereas many other historical sites are suffering collateral damage from the armed conflict in Yemen; whereas the acts of destruction of archaeological and cultural heritage have been considered, under certain circumstances, as crimes against humanity and ‘cultural cleansing’, and amount to a war crime according to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court;
