Supports the role of the SEGIB as the organiser of the Ibero-American summits and recommends that a flexible mechanism be established to prepare and monitor EU-LA summits, including the participation of the Council Presidency, the Commission, the Senior Officials" Group and the SEGIB, so as to utilise and coordinate the synergies created by the various partners involved and prevent duplication of resources;

La nécessité croissante d'adopter une démarche coordonnée et cohérente vis-à-vis de ces questions à l'échelon international a été admise lors du sommet UE-Amérique latine de Rio, du sommet latino-américain tenu récemment à Brasilia et des Conseils européens de Lisbonne et de Feira, qui ont adopté l'initiative "eEurope", en faisant spécifiquement état de la nécessité d'aborder ce problème à l'échelon international.
The increasing need for co-ordinated and compatible international approaches to these questions has been recognised at the EU-Latin America Rio Summit, the recently held Latin-American Summit in Brasilia, and the European Councils in Lisbon and Feira which adopted the eEurope initiative with a specific reference to the need for addressing this at international level.
