We in the United Kingdom are especially proud to celebrate figures that have helped our nation progress in the field of women’s rights: women such as Emily Pankhurst, leader of the British Suffragettes, which won women the right to vote, Shirin Ebadi, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for her efforts in promoting human rights, especially for women, and Margaret Thatcher, the first British woman Prime Minister, elected in 1979.

In conjunction with the laudable efforts of our diplomatic staff, I propose that we lend our support to this initiative by using all the resources at our disposal, by inviting, for example, the two main players – the former Israeli minister, Yossi Beilin, and the Palestinian minister, Yasser Abed Rabbo – or by awarding them the Sakharov Prize, or even by setting up a European committee to support their joint declaration.

The government and various ministers over the last number of years have gone to great lengths to promote value-added production, creating the jobs in Canada whether it's crushing oilseeds in Canada, creating the jobs here or whatever.I think it's fair to say there is a fair bit of concern about the ability to price differently for those different products, especially when it's not related to cost.
