IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

(1) Conformément à l'article 3, paragraphe 1, point b), du règlement (CE) n° 639/2003 de la Commission du 9 avril 2003 portant modalités d'application en vertu du règlement (CE) n° 1254/1999 du Conseil en ce qui concerne les exigences en matière de bien-être des animaux vivants de l'espèce bovine en cours de transport pour l'octroi de restitutions à l'exportation(2), les animaux font l'objet d'un contrôle par un vétérinaire au lieu de premier déchargement dans le pays tiers de destination finale.
(1) According to Article 3(1)(b) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 639/2003 of 9 April 2003 laying down detailed rules pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No 1254/1999 as regards requirements for the granting of export refunds related to the welfare of live bovine animals during transport(2), the animals are subject to a check by a veterinarian at the place of the first unloading in the third country of final destination.

En vue d'assurer le respect des normes relatives au bien-être des animaux, il y a lieu d'introduire un système de suivi s'appuyant sur des contrôles obligatoires effectués aux points de sortie de la Communauté, après que les animaux ont quitté le territoire douanier de la Communauté en cas de changement de moyen de transport, ainsi qu'au lieu du premier déchargement dans le pays tiers de destination finale.
In order to guarantee that the animal welfare standards are maintained, a monitoring system should be introduced comprising compulsory checks at the exit point from the Community and after leaving the customs territory of the Community where there is a change of means of transport and also at the place of the first unloading in the third country of final destination.

3. Aux fins des paragraphes 1 et 2, les animaux morts en cours de transport et les animaux ayant mis bas ou avorté avant le premier déchargement dans le pays tiers de destination finale, pour lesquels l'exportateur prouve, à la satisfaction de l'autorité compétente, que la mort ou la mise bas n'est pas imputable au non-respect de la directive 91/628/CEE, ne sont pas pris en compte.
3. For the purpose of paragraphs 1 and 2, the animals which died during transport and the animals that gave birth or aborted before their first unloading in the third country of final destination for which the exporter proves to the satisfaction of the competent authority that their death or the birth or abortion was not the result of non-compliance with Directive 91/628/EEC shall not be taken into account.
