– having regard to the own-initiative opinion of the Committee of the Regions of 11 October 2011 entitled ‘Territorial cooperation in the Mediterranean through the Adriatic and Ionian macroregion’,

22. souscrit à l'avis de la Commission quant à la nécessité de créer un centre de prévention pour les catastrophes naturelles et d'origine humaine pour la macrorégion adriatico-ionienne;
22. Endorses the Commission’s view that a centre for the prevention of natural and non-natural disasters should be set up for the Adriatic and Ionian macro-region;

En amont de la conférence d'Athènes, M. Johannes Hahn, commissaire européen chargé de la politique régionale, a déclaré: «Nous sommes à une étape essentielle de nos préparatifs visant à établir une stratégie sur mesure pour la macrorégion adriatico-ionienne.
Speaking ahead of the conference in Athens, European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn commented: "We are at a crucial stage in our preparations for a tailor -made strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian macro-region.

34. souligne l'importance d'une interconnexion plus réelle entre la stratégie Europe 2020 et les trois piliers, en particulier en ce qui concerne le pilier de la croissance bleue de la stratégie pour la région de l'Adriatique et de la mer Ionienne, sur la base du plan d'action de la Commission européenne; considère le plan d'action comme l'un des résultats de l'approche de la stratégie visant à identifier les priorités concrètes de la macrorégion; souligne qu'à partir de ces éléments, chaque action ou projet est sélectionné à l'issue d'une large consultation partant de la base, associant un large éventail de parties prenantes dans la région adriatico-ionienne, représentant les autorités nationales, régionales et locales, les partenaires sociaux, mais aussi le secteur privé, l'économie sociale, les universitaires et la société civile;

Stresses the importance of a greater and real interconnection between the EU 2020 strategy and the three pillars (especially the blue growth pillar) of the EUSAIR strategy based on the European Commission Action Plan; considers the Action Plan as one of the outputs of the strategy approach identifying the concrete priorities for the macro-region; points out that, on the basis of this, each action or project is selected by an extensive bottom-up consultation process involving a range of stakeholders from the Adriatic-Ionian Region representing national, regional and local authorities, social partners, but also the private sector, the social economy, academia and civil society;

Le Comité des régions élabore actuellement un avis d'initiative sur la macrorégion adriatico-ionienne.
The Committee of the Regions is currently drawing up an own-initiative opinion on the Adriatic-Ionian macroregion.

Une stratégie européenne pour la totalité de la "macrorégion" adriatico-ionienne nous donnerait les moyens de nous attaquer ensemble à ces problèmes".
A European strategy for the entire Adriatic-Ionian 'macroregion' would give us the means to tackle these issues together.

Le Comité souhaite souligner que, si la coopération dans la région adriatico-ionienne est fondamentale lorsqu'il s'agit d'aider les pays des Balkans occidentaux dans le cadre du processus de préadhésion et de renforcer les liens avec les macrorégions du Danube et de la mer Baltique, il est également essentiel de considérer l'espace adriatico-ionien comme une zone fonctionnelle du Bassin méditerranéen.
The EESC would like to emphasise that while Adriatic and Ionian regional cooperation is fundamental to assisting the countries of the Western Balkans in the pre-accession process, and strengthening links with the Danube and Baltic macro-regions, it is also essential to consider the Adriatic and Ionian area as a functional area of the Mediterranean basin.
