La convention concernant la compétence, la loi applicable, la reconnaissance, l’exécution et la coopération en matière de responsabilité parentale et de mesures de protection des enfants conclue le 19 octobre 1996 dans le cadre de la conférence de La Haye sur le droit international privé (ci-après dénommée «la convention») apporte une précieuse contribution à la protection des enfants au niveau international; il est donc souhaitable que ses dispositions soient appliquées dans les meilleurs délais.
The Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Cooperation in respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children concluded on 19 October 1996 within the Hague Conference on Private International Law (hereinafter referred to as the Convention) makes a valuable contribution to the protection of children at the international level. It is therefore desirable that its provisions be applied as soon as possible.

La présente convention ne peut porter atteinte aux droits et obligations des parties contractantes aux termes de la convention internationale pour la réglementation de la chasse à la baleine et la convention pour la protection des phoques de l'Antarctique.
This Convention shall not derogate from the rights and obligations of Contracting Parties under the International Convention for the regulation of whaling and the Convention for the conservation of Antarctic seals.
