La distinction entre «terminal» et «réseau de télécommunications» a été introduite dans la législation de l’UE pendant les années 1990 afin d’empêcher la domination conjointe des opérateurs de réseau monopolistiques et des fabricants associés d’équipements destinés aux utilisateurs.
The distinction between ‘terminal’ and ‘telecommunications network’ was introduced in EU legislation in the 1990’s in order to prevent the joint dominance of monopolistic network operators and associated manufacturers of user equipment.

Les projets prioritaires au titre de la CESEC en cours dans le domaine du gaz sont les suivants: le gazoduc transadriatique (reliant la Grèce à l'Italie via l'Albanie et l'Adriatique); l'interconnexion entre la Grèce et la Bulgarie; l'interconnexion entre la Bulgarie et la Serbie; le renforcement du réseau de transport bulgare; le renforcement du réseau de transport roumain (partie du corridor «BRUA»); le terminal GNL de Krk, en Croatie, et le système d'évacuation de GNL vers la Hongrie.
The CESEC ongoing priority gas projects are: the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (gas pipeline from Greece to Italy via Albania and the Adriatic sea); the Interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria; the Interconnector between Bulgaria and Serbia; the reinforcement of the Bulgarian transmission system; the reinforcement of the Romanian transmission system (part of the "BRUA" corridor); the LNG terminal in Krk, Croatia; and the LNG evacuation system towards Hungary.

Les autres projets possibles sont notamment: le raccordement au réseau roumain du gaz roumain extrait en mer et le renforcement du réseau national; un nouveau terminal de GNL grec; l'interconnexion entre la Bulgarie et la Serbie.
Other possible projects include: a connection of off-shore Romanian gas to the Romanian grid and enhancement of the national system; a new Greek LNG terminal; and the interconnection between Croatia and Serbia.

D'autres projets portent sur le renforcement du réseau de transport entre la Lituanie et la Lettonie, l'interconnexion entre la Pologne et le Danemark (BalticPipe) et l'extension du terminal GNL de Świnoujście, en Pologne.
Other projects include the strengthening of the transmission network between Lithuania and Latvia, the interconnector between Poland and Denmark (BalticPipe) and the expansion of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, Poland.

Je ne voudrais pas terminer sans aborder la question de la séparation effective entre la gestion du réseau, la production et l’approvisionnement.
I will not end without tackling the issue of the effective unbundling of network operation from generation and supply.

Et pour terminer, je formulerai le même vœu que dans mon intervention du 30 mars, le réseau "Échelon" doit être neutralisé, ou bien si l'on estime qu'il peut jouer un rôle dans la lutte contre la criminalité organisée, il faut partager ses tâches entre les pays ou le confier à une organisation internationale dûment contrôlée.
To close, I should like to reiterate what I called for in my intervention on 30 March, i.e. that the ‘Echelon’ network should be neutralised or, if it is felt that it has a part to play in the fight against organised crime, its remit should be divided between the countries or entrusted to a properly controlled international organisation.
