Stresses the importance of a greater and real interconnection between the EU 2020 strategy and the three pillars (especially the blue growth pillar) of the EUSAIR strategy based on the European Commission Action Plan; considers the Action Plan as one of the outputs of the strategy approach identifying the concrete priorities for the macro-region; points out that, on the basis of this, each action or project is selected by an extensive bottom-up consultation process involving a range of stakeholders from the Adriatic-Ionian Region representing national, regional and local authorities, social partners, but also the private sector, the social economy, academia and civil society;

Elle s'appuie sur la coopération existante dans la région, principalement l'initiative adriatique et ionienne qui a débuté en 2000 avec la signature de la déclaration d'Ancône, et l'eurorégion adriatico-ionienne créée en 2006, qui réunit 26 collectivités locales et régionales de sept pays.
It builds upon existing cooperation in the region, mainly the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative started in 2000 with signing of the Ancona Declaration and the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion established in 2006 with 26 regional and local authorities from seven countries as members.

Suite à la déclaration d'Ancône, plusieurs réseaux de coopération institutionnelle ont été activés afin de soutenir la cohésion et la compétitivité dans la région de l'Adriatique et de la mer Ionienne: l'eurorégion adriatique/ionienne, le forum des villes des mers Adriatique et Ionienne, le forum des chambres de commerce de la zone adriatique et ionienne, Uniadrion, et l'initiative adriatico-ionienne.
With reference to the Ancona declaration, several institutional cooperation networks were activated to support cohesion and competitiveness in the Adriatic and Ionian region: the Adriatic and Ionian Euroregion, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, Uniadrion and the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.

While Adriatic and Ionian regional cooperation is fundamental to assisting the countries of the Western Balkans in the pre-accession process, and to strengthening links with the Danube and Baltic macro-regions, it is also essential to consider the Adriatic and Ionian area as a functional area of the Mediterranean basin.

Le Comité souhaite souligner que, si la coopération dans la région adriatico-ionienne est fondamentale lorsqu'il s'agit d'aider les pays des Balkans occidentaux dans le cadre du processus de préadhésion et de renforcer les liens avec les macrorégions du Danube et de la mer Baltique, il est également essentiel de considérer l'espace adriatico-ionien comme une zone fonctionnelle du Bassin méditerranéen.
The EESC would like to emphasise that while Adriatic and Ionian regional cooperation is fundamental to assisting the countries of the Western Balkans in the pre-accession process, and strengthening links with the Danube and Baltic macro-regions, it is also essential to consider the Adriatic and Ionian area as a functional area of the Mediterranean basin.

La coopération macrorégionale facilite la réalisation de progrès en matière d'alignement sur les normes de l'UE — l'acquis communautaire — et a donc des effets positifs sur le rapprochement avec l'Europe et sur la stabilité des pays de la région adriatico-ionienne, ainsi qu'au niveau régional.
Macro-regional cooperation facilitates progress towards alignment with EU standards — the ‘acquis communautaire’ — thus having a positive impact on the path towards Europe and on the stability of the Adriatic and Ionian countries, as well as at regional level.

Le premier effort de coopération dans la région adriatico-ionienne a été le pacte de stabilité pour l'Europe du Sud-Est lancé en 1999.
The first cooperation effort in the Adriatic and Ionian region was the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, which was launched in 1999.
