The Committee was represented at the hearing of the National Planning Board when it considered the opposition to the landfill site from the Nevitt Lusk Action group (Petition 295-05) due to the potentially negative impact on the region's horticultural production and the lack of consideration by the Irish authorities for the provisions of the Water Framework Directive given that the site was over a significant aquifer.
