Étant donné que le patrimoine naturel joue souvent un rôle essentiel dans la formation du patrimoine artistique et culturel, il y a lieu que la conservation du patrimoine au sens du présent règlement soit comprise comme couvrant aussi le patrimoine naturel lié au patrimoine culturel ou officiellement reconnu par les autorités publiques compétentes d'un État membre.
As natural heritage is often crucial to shaping of artistic and cultural heritage, heritage conservation in the sense of this Regulation should be understood to cover also natural heritage linked to cultural heritage or formally recognised by the competent public authorities of a Member State.

Il convient également de noter qu'en raison des interdictions nationales à l'exportation de trésors nationaux (patrimoine artistique, historique ou archéologique national) en vigueur dans les Etats membres, ce genre de biens culturels est rarement exporté à titre définitif.
It should also be noted that, owing to the national bans on the export of national treasures (national artistic, historical or archaeological heritage) in force in the Member States, cultural goods of this type are rarely exported permanently.
