C'est pourquoi, au-delà du problème proprement dit, j'invite à nouveau la Commission et les gouvernements à mettre tout en œuvre pour que les régions limitrophes deviennent des ateliers de l'intégration européenne et qu'elles en ressentent les répercussions positives d'un point de vue humain et social, comme ce fut le cas pour les précédentes régions limitrophes, par exemple la Sarre, la Lorraine ou le Luxembourg.
Quite apart from the practicalities of the problem, I therefore again call on the Commission and the governments to do everything possible to make what are at present border regions workshops for European integration and enable them to experience its positive effects on people and society, as the former border regions such as for example the Saarland, Lorraine, and Luxembourg so emphatically did.
