Any training course continuing for the equivalent of at least two years full-time training after the end of compulsory education and completed at an agricultural college, university or other institute of higher education in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, sylviculture, pisciculture, veterinary science, agricultural technology or an associated subject.

G. stressing the importance of intact forest ecosystems for the preservation of biodiversity in accordance with commitments under international agreements; noting that examples of such commitments include the Biodiversity Convention (Rio, 1992) and the goal of halting the decline in the number of species by 2010 (EU meetings in Göteborg, 2001; Johannesburg 2002); being convinced that, in order to successfully fulfil these commitments, it is of the greatest importance to earmark sufficient areas as nature reserves and to gear sylvicultural methods, in conjunction with landscape planning, more fully to biological preconditions.
G. het belang benadrukkend van bosecosystemen voor het behoud van de biodiversiteit in overeenstemming met de uit internationale overeenkomsten voortvloeiende verplichtingen; overwegende dat het bij deze verplichtingen onder andere gaat om het Verdrag inzake biologische diversiteit (Rio 1992) en om de doelstelling de achteruitgang van het aantal dier- en plantensoorten tegen 2010 te stoppen (EU-bijeenkomst in Göteborg 2001; Johannesburg 2002); in de overtuiging dat het voor een succesvolle naleving van deze verplichtingen van het grootste belang is voldoende gebieden als natuurreservaten aan te wijzen en de bosbouwmethoden, samen met de ruimtelijke ordening, beter af te stemmen op de biologische voorwaarden;

Finally, the Presidency wishes to emphasise the importance of sylviculture, not as a Common Market Organisation, but as a background for all Community decisions.
Tot slot wenst het voorzitterschap te benadrukken dat bosbouw van groot belang is, niet als een gemeenschappelijke marktordening, maar als achtergrond voor alle besluiten van de Gemeenschap.
