Independently of the fact that the usual socio-economic diversification planned in coastal areas naturally forms part of the actions financed by the Structural Funds, and given the sudden nature of the breakdown of negotiations on the fisheries agreements with Morocco, the specific measure designed to remedy the effects of that breakdown should co-finance both the conversion of vessels and retraining of seafarers and the regional development measures necessary to repair the damage and losses caused to economic activities in the area linked to the affected fleet. Ancillary firms in the fisheries sector should benefit from the specific measure.
De normaal geplande sociaal-economische diversificatie van de kustgebieden behoort van nature tot de acties die worden gefinancierd uit de Structuurfondsen.
