It is appropriate to ensure a smooth transition without interruption between the Pericles programme and the Pericles 2020 programme and it is appropriate to align the duration of the Pericles 2020 programme with Regulation (EU, Euratom) No 1311/2013.

Het communautair programma "Pericles" inzake uitwisselingen, bijstand en opleiding voor de bescherming van de euro tegen valsemunterij is vastgesteld bij Besluit 2001/923/EG van de Raad van 17 december 2001 – het zogenoemde Periclesbesluit, laatstelijk gewijzigd en uitgebreid bij Besluit 2006/75/EG van de Raad; het programma is erop gericht de maatregelen die de lidstaten nemen of die vervat zijn in bestaande programma's ter bestrijding van valsemunterij, te ondersteunen en aan te vullen.

Such actions are mainly single-country or single-subject actions (i.e. not eligible under Pericles) and are systematically coordinated with Pericles by the competent service in the Commission in coordination with Member States.
