63. Condemns the strong focus of the Commission in its European Agenda on Migration on the prevention and repression of irregular migration, including through detention, without any regard to the growing number of asylum seekers fleeing from wars, persecution and climate disasters; strongly condemns therefore the multiplication of repressive proposals made by the European Commission in 2014, such as the EUNAVFOR MED operation aimed at targeting smugglers’ boats, the increase in the budget of FRONTEX, the acceleration of migrant returns and the encouragement to use coercion and detention in order to enforce the fingerprinting of migrants; calls on the European Commission to redirect this funding towards search and rescue activities, open reception centres, resettlement and relocation programmes, and integration;
63. veroordeelt het feit dat de Commissie in haar Agenda voor migratie in hoofdzaak inzet op het voorkomen en bestrijden van illegale migratie, onder meer middels detentie, zonder dat men oog heeft voor de toenemende aantallen asielzoekers die oorlogen, vervolging en klimaatrampen proberen te ontvluchten; veroordeelt het daarom fel dat de Commissie in 2014 steeds meer repressieve maatregelen heeft voorgesteld, zoals de EUNAVFOR MED-operatie tegen boten van smokkelaars, de verhoging van het Frontex-budget, het versneld terugsturen van migranten en de aanmoediging om dwang en detentie te gebruiken om het nemen van vingerafdrukken van migranten af te dwingen; verzoekt de Commissie de kredieten hiervoor over te hevelen naar opsporings- en reddingsacties, hervestiging- en herplaatsingsprogramma's en integratie;

Starting along this path in 1992, the Commission has now set up a raft of decentralized cooperation programmes with key players in civil society such as the universities (Med Campus), the media (Med Media) and local authorities (Med Urbs), or in specific fields such as investment (Med Invest), migration (Med Migrations) or technology transfer (Med Techno).
