TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

The European Commission will continue to support the implementation in Macao SAR of the “one country, two systems” principle and therefore, to monitor closely political, institutional, economic and social developments in the Macao SAR.

1. The Macao SAR shall readmit, upon application by a Member State and without any formalities other than those specified in this Agreement, all persons who do not, or who no longer, fulfil the conditions in force for entry to, presence in, or residence on, the territory of the requesting Member State provided that it is proved, or may be validly presumed that they are permanent residents of the Macao SAR.

De SAR Macao neemt, op verzoek van een lidstaat en zonder andere formaliteiten dan die welke in deze overeenkomst zijn genoemd, alle personen over die niet of niet meer voldoen aan de voorwaarden voor binnenkomst, aanwezigheid of verblijf op het grondgebied van de verzoekende lidstaat, wanneer kan worden aangetoond of aannemelijk kan worden gemaakt dat zij vaste inwoners zijn van de SAR Macao.

10. Endorses fully the EU Decision to grant visa-free access to Macao SAR passport-holders, in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No 539/2001 of 15 March 2001 listing the third countries whose nationals must be in possession of visas when crossing the external borders and those whose nationals are exempt from that requirement ; notes that negotiations between the EC and Macao on a re-admission agreement have begun and trusts that it will be possible to successfully finalise the Agreement in 2003;

23. Instructs its President to forward the resolution to the Council, the Commission, the Governments of the Member States, the Government and Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR and the Government of the People's Republic of China.

8. Urges the EU to support the international autonomy of the Macao SAR, by negotiating directly with Macao as an international partner in the areas of its autonomy, promoting Macao's participation in international organisations and forums in line with its status, and keeping a close watch on the application of international instruments to Macao;

11. Urges all the Member States to exempt passport holders of the Macao SAR from visa requirements, since this would make a significant contribution to the preservation of Macao's way of life and would strengthen and facilitate economic and other contacts, as well as testifying to the Union's confidence in Macao's future;
11. dringt er bij alle lidstaten op aan de houders van een paspoort van de Speciale Administratieve Regio Macau vrij te stellen van visumplicht, een maatregel die een belangrijke bijdrage betekent tot het behoud van de levenswijze van Macau en de vergemakkelijking en uitbreiding van economische en andere contacten, nog afgezien van het feit dat Europa daarmee blijk geeft van vertrouwen in de toekomst van Macau;

6. Welcomes the continuation, after the transfer of powers, of the EU-Macao Trade and Cooperation Agreement of 1993, which provides a permanent framework for direct dialogue between the Macao SAR and the European Union, in particular thanks to the preservation of the structures created by that agreement, including the annual Joint Committee;
6. verheugt zich over het van kracht blijven, ook na de machtsovername, van de handels- en samenwerkingsovereenkomst van 1993 tussen de Europese Unie en Macau, die een permanent kader voor de rechtstreekse dialoog tussen de Speciale Administratieve Regio Macau en de Europese Unie vormt, met name door handhaving van de structuren die door de overeenkomst ingesteld zijn, zoals de gemengde commissie die jaarlijks bijeenkomt;
