TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

It designates Europol as the central office for combating euro counterfeiting in order to apply effectively the 1929 Geneva International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency (Geneva Convention) and to step up cooperation among European Union (EU) countries themselves, and between the EU countries, Europol and non-EU countries.

For the Member States which are Contracting Parties to the Geneva Convention, Europol shall, in accordance with the Declaration in the Annex (hereinafter referred to as the Declaration), act as the central office for combating euro counterfeiting within the meaning of the first sentence of Article 12 of the Geneva Convention.

The International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency agreed on 20 April 1929 in Geneva (hereinafter referred to as the Geneva Convention), should be applied more effectively under the conditions of European integration.

The Agency shall fulfil its tasks in full compliance with the relevant Union law, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (‘the Charter of Fundamental Rights’); the relevant international law, including the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees done at Geneva on 28 July 1951 (‘the Geneva Convention’); obligations related to access to international protection, in particular the principle of non-refoulement; and fundamental rights, and taking into account the reports of the Consultative Forum referred to in Article 26a of this Regulation.

REFERRING to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and recalling the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the conclusions of the 1993 Vienna Conference on Human Rights, the Covenants on Civil and Political Rights and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, the International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the other instruments of international humanitarian law, the 1954 Convention relating to the status of stateless persons, the 1951 Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 New York Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees.

5. Calls on all countries which have not yet done so to ratify the four 1949 Geneva Conventions, their two 1977 Additional Protocols and the other treaties of international humanitarian law, particularly the Ottawa Convention prohibiting anti-personnel mines and the statute of the International Criminal Court;
5. verzoekt alle landen die dit nog niet gedaan hebben, de vier Verdragen van Genève van 1949, de twee aanvullende protocollen van 1977 en de andere verdragen inzake het internationaal humanitair recht, zoals met name de Conventie van Ottawa over het verbod op antipersoneelsmijnen en het statuut van het internationaal Strafhof, te ratificeren;

6. Calls on the Council and Commission to ensure that cooperation with third countries operates on the basis of respect for the four Geneva Conventions, the Ottawa Convention and the statute of the International Criminal Court;
