With the appointment of Paraskevi Michou as the first female Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs as of 1 March and Jean-Eric Paquet as Director-General of DG Research and Innovation as of 1 April, two out of the three positions of Deputy Secretary-General are published today to be filled as rapidly as possible, at the latest by April 2018.

In parallel, it established structures to accompany Member States in their efforts, in particular the National Roma Contact Points' network where National Roma Contact Points from all 28 Member States meet regularly as well as the Commission-internal Roma Task Force chaired by Directorate General Justice (with Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion as deputy chair) bringing together senior representatives from the Commission's Secretariat General as well as from various Directorates General, including those in charge of regional and urban policy, education and culture, agriculture and rural development, health and consumers, enlargement, home affairs, statistics, budget, communication and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) to ensure coherence and consistency.
Daarnaast heeft zij ondersteunende structuren voor de lidstaten opgezet, zoals het netwerk van nationale contactpunten voor de Roma, in het kader waarvan de nationale contactpunten voor de Roma uit alle 28 lidstaten regelmatig bijeenkomen, en de interne taskforce Roma onder voorzitterschap van DG Justitie (met DG Werkgelegenheid, Sociale Zaken en Inclusie als vicevoorzitter), die voor de nodige samenhang en afstemming moet zorgen en die is samengesteld uit hoge vertegenwoordigers van het secretariaat-generaal van de Commissie en dito vertegenwoordigers van de directoraten-generaal voor onder meer Regionaal Beleid en Stadsontwikkeling, Onderwijs en Cultuur, Landbouw en Plattelandsontwikkeling, Gezondheid en Consumenten, Binnenlandse Zaken, Statistiek, Begroting en Communicatie, en van het Bureau van de Europese Unie voor de grondrechten (FRA).
