Some Regional Operational Programmes have been specially re-programmed at the beginning of 2005 to allow such a possible co-financing of the Programme A.G.U.A projects, especially desalination plants (new and/or extension of existing ones).

2. Calls on the Commission and the Member States to ensure that electricity system operators, as a matter of priority, accept electricity produced in seawater desalination plants using combined electricity and steam cogeneration cycles; believes that the prices charged should be determined by competition on the electricity market and hence that the new electricity markets should operate under normal economic conditions;
