Dankzij Galileo, het door de Europese Commissie en het Europees Ruimtevaartagentschap ontwikkelde civiele satellietnavigatieprogramma, zal het weldra mogelijk zijn files bij tolhuisjes op autowegen te vermijden, je plaats in een groot gebouw te bepalen, aan precisielandbouw te doen, het transport van dieren te controleren, met een vliegtuig op hoogstens twee meter van de as van de landingsbaan te landen, blinden te leiden en hun route in real time te beschrijven, en je snelheid aan obstakels of het tracé van de weg aan te passen.
