In the case of devices classified as class III, the surveillance assessment shall also include a check of the approved parts and/or materials that are essential for the integrity of the device, including, where appropriate, the coherence between the quantities of produced or purchased parts and/or materials and the quantities of finished products.

1. Where a manufacturer who has been granted an EU whole-vehicle type-approval is obliged, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 765/2008, to recall vehicles placed on the market, registered or for which the manufacturer was responsible for the entry into service, because a system, component or separate technical unit fitted to the vehicle presents a serious risk to safety, public health or environmental protection, whether or not duly approved in accordance with this Regulation, or because a part not subject to any specific requirements under type-approval legislation presents a serious risk to safety, public health or environmental protection, that manufacturer shall immediately inform the approval authority that granted the vehicle approval.
1. 3. Paragraph 1 shall not apply to original parts or equipment and to parts or equipment that are type-approved in accordance with any of the acts listed in Annex II, except where the approval relates to aspects other than those covered in paragraph 1.

by reference to the documentation make sure that the vehicle specification(s) and data contained in Part I of the vehicle information document are included in the data in the information packages and/or the approval certificates of the relevant separate Directive approvals; and when an item number in Part I of the information document is not included in the information package of any of the separate Directives, confirm that the relevant part or characteristic conforms to the particulars in the information folder;

To this end approval authorities must ensure, before granting first and subsequent stage approval, that suitable arrangements exist between the relevant manufacturers for the supply and interchange of documents and information such that the completed vehicle type meets the technical requirements of all the relevant separate Directives as prescribed in Annex IV or Annex XI. Such information must include details of relevant system, component and separate technical unit approvals and of vehicle parts which form part of the incomplete vehicle but are not yet approved.

2. Any separate technical unit and any component produced in conformity with the type having been type-approved shall include, if the relevant separate directive so provides, a type-approval mark which meets the requirements set out in Annex V, Part B. The type-approval number listed in Annex V, Part B, paragraph 1.2 shall be composed in accordance with Section 4 of the type-approval number set out in Annex V, Part A.
2. Technische eenheden en onderdelen die met het goedgekeurde type in overeenstemming zijn, moeten van een aan de voorschriften van bijlage V, deel B, beantwoordend goedkeuringsmerk zijn voorzien, voorzover dit in de bijzondere richtlijn betreffende deze technische eenheden of onderdelen is bepaald. Het in bijlage V, deel B, punt 1.2, bedoelde goedkeuringsnummer wordt samengesteld in overeenstemming met het in bijlage V, deel A, deel 4, bedoelde goedkeuringsnummer.
