In order to encourage tourism and the use of environmentally friendly means of transport, Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 should be amended to allow drivers engaged in a single occasional service providing international carriage of passengers to postpone their weekly rest period for up to 12 consecutive 24-hour periods if they are involved in passenger transport activities that typically do not include continuous and long driving hours.
Om het toerisme en het gebruik van milieuvriendelijke vervoerswijzen te bevorderen, moet Verordening (EG) nr. 561/2006 worden gewijzigd, zodat bestuurders die een eenmalige ongeregelde vervoersdienst bestaande uit het internationale vervoer van passagiers verrichten, de wekelijkse rusttijd voor maximaal 12 opeenvolgende perioden van 24 uur mogen uitstellen als het gaat om personenvervoersactiviteiten die normaliter geen continue lange rijtijden inhouden.

2. Without prejudice to criminal prosecution, the host Member State may impose penalties on non-resident carriers who have committed infringements of this Regulation or of Community or national transport regulations within its territory on the occasion of a cabotage transport operation.
2. Onverminderd strafvervolgingen, mag de lidstaat van ontvangst sancties treffen tegen de niet aldaar gevestigde vervoerder die bij cabotagevervoer op zijn grondgebied inbreuken op deze verordening of op de communautaire en nationale vervoersvoorschriften heeft gepleegd.
