It applies from 21 April 2018, apart from certain articles dealing largely with notification bodies and procedures, as well as the notification of the types of gas and corresponding supply pressures used on EU countries’ territories.

The composition and specifications of the types of gas and the supply pressures at the place where an appliance is put into service is very important for its safe and correct functioning, therefore that aspect should be taken into consideration at the design phase of the appliance in order to ensure its compatibility with the gas type(s) and supply pressure(s) it is intended for.

(20) Although this Regulation does not regulate the gas supply conditions in the Member States, it should take into account the fact that different conditions as regards types of gas and supply pressures are in force in the Member States in the absence of harmonisation of the technical characteristics of the gaseous fuel.

(21) In order to avoid barriers to trade with regard to appliances on grounds relating to the fact that the gas supply conditions are not yet harmonised and to ensure that economic operators are sufficiently informed, Member States should communicate to the other Member States and to the Commission the types of gas and corresponding supply pressures used on their territory and any changes thereof in good time.
(21) De lidstaten moeten de andere lidstaten en de Commissie tijdig de gassoorten en de daarmee overeenstemmende gebruiksdrukken die op hun grondgebied worden gebruikt en wijzigingen daarin meedelen, zodat handelsbelemmeringen voor gastoestellen vanwege niet-geharmoniseerde gasleveringsomstandigheden worden vermeden en marktdeelnemers voldoende worden geïnformeerd.

Distributors should therefore be able to supply pressure equipment and assemblies that have been placed on the market, namely stock that is already in the distribution chain, before the date of application of national measures transposing this Directive .
