This TSI concerns the following subsystems as defined in Directive 2008/57/EC: control-command and signalling (‘CCS’), infrastructure (‘INF’), energy (‘ENE’), operation (‘OPE’), and rolling stock (locomotives and passenger units ‘LOCPAS’).

Should the United Kingdom encounter major difficulties in applying the TSI for the control-command and signalling subsystem adopted under Commission Decision 2002/731/EC to future projects, derogations may be requested where the conditions of Article 7 of Directive 96/48/EC are met.
Mocht het Verenigd Koninkrijk bij toekomstige projecten geconfronteerd worden met grote problemen door het toepassen van de TSI voor het subsysteem voor besturing en seingeving, goedgekeurd op basis van beschikking 2002/731/EG van de Commissie, dan kan om afwijkingen verzocht worden, mits voldaan wordt aan de voorwaarden die zijn opgenomen in artikel 7 van richtlijn 96/48/EG.
