[5] Recommendation 31 of the Financial Action Task Force Forty Recommendations calls on countries to ensure that “policy makers, the FIU, law enforcement and supervisors have effective mechanisms in place which enable them to co-operate, and where appropriate coordinate domestically with each other concerning the development and implementation of policies and activities to combat money laundering and terrorist financing”.

If necessary, a "supervisors co-operation charter" will be elaborated to assign responsibility for performing different supervisory tasks on a cross-border basis and to establish mechanisms for problem management.
