It is therefore important that the Commission uses the Agreement and, in particular, the possibility of reference to the Joint Committee, to promote compliance with relevant international legislation on social rights, in particular the labour standards embodied in the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO 1930-1999), the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (1976, revised 2000) and the Rome Convention on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations of 1980.
Daarom is het van belang dat de Commissie de overeenkomst, en met name de mogelijkheid om het Gemengd Comité in te schakelen, aangrijpt om de naleving van de relevante internationale wetgeving inzake sociale rechten te bevorderen, in het bijzonder de arbeidsnormen die zijn vastgelegd in de fundamentele overeenkomsten van de Internationale Arbeidsorganisatie (ILO 1930-1999), de OESO-richtsnoeren voor multinationale ondernemingen (1976, herzien in 2000) en het Verdrag van Rome inzake recht dat van toepassing is op verbintenissen uit overeenkomst van 1980.
