A. whereas on 3 October 2014 Turkey issued a NAVTEX (Navigational Telex) directive, by which it ‘designated’ a large area within the southern part of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the Republic of Cyprus as being reserved for seismic surveys to be conducted by the Turkish vessel Barbaros from 20 October to 30 December 2014; whereas these seismic surveys affect blocks that have been allocated by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to the Italian company Eni and to the Korea Gas Corporation for the exploration of possible hydrocarbon reserves in the seabed soil;
A. overwegende dat Turkije op 3 oktober 2014 een navigatietelexbericht (NAVTEX) heeft verzonden waarin een groot gebied in het zuidelijke deel van de exclusieve economische zone (EEZ) van de Republiek Cyprus werd 'aangewezen' voor seismologisch onderzoek dat van 20 oktober t/m 30 december 2014 moet worden verricht door het Turkse schip Barbaros ; overwegende dat dit seismologisch onderzoek zou plaatsvinden in gebieden die door de regering van de Republiek Cyprus zijn toegewezen aan het Italiaanse bedrijf Eni en aan de Korea Gas Corporation met het oog op de exploratie van mogelijke koolwaterstofreserves in de zeebodem;

4. Urges Turkey to revoke its NAVTEX immediately, and to refrain from any violations of the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus;

K. whereas Turkey released a ‘navigation telex’ (NAVTEX) stating that the Barbaros would carry out seismic surveys in the Mediterranean from 20 October to 30 December 2014 with a view to the exploration of natural gas fields;
