Calls on the Pakistani Government to sign up to the ILO/IFC-led ‘Better Work Programme’, as promised, in order to give added impetus to improvements in health and safety standards for workers; calls on all those directly or indirectly responsible for the factory fire at the Ali Enterprises garment factory, including the Social Accountability auditing company and European retailers involved, to finally pay the survivors of the fire full, long-term and fair compensation;
34. dringt er bij de Pakistaanse regering op aan om, zoals toegezegd, het programma „Beter werk” van de IAO en de IFC te ondertekenen teneinde een extra impuls te geven aan de verbetering van de arbeids- en veiligheidsomstandigheden van de werknemers; verzoekt iedereen die direct of indirect verantwoordelijk is voor de brand in de kledingfabriek van Ali Enterprises, met inbegrip van het betrokken accountantskantoor dat de controles met betrekking tot maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen uitvoerde en de Europese detailhandelaren, om de overlevenden van de brand eindelijk volledig, duurzaam en eerlijk schadeloos te stellen, hetgeen nog steeds niet is gebeurd;

– having regard to the IFC/World Bank Report ‘Doing Business 2012: Doing Business in a More Transparent World’(hereinafter ’Doing Business 2012 index’),

I. whereas there is a multitude of international organisations designed to govern the world economy such as the IMF, World Bank, WTO, UNCTAD and the IFC, alongside the inter-governmental fora of the G7 and G20, of which the IMF and G20 are the most effective bodies, although both still need to be improved;
I. overwegende dat er een groot aantal internationale organisaties bestaan die ten doel hebben de wereldeconomie in goede banen te leiden, zoals het IMF, de Wereldbank, de WTO, de UNCTAD en de IFC, en dat er daarnaast ook nog intergouvernementele fora bestaan zoals de G7 en de G20; overwegende dat het IMF en de G20 hiervan de meest doeltreffende organen zijn, maar beiden nog verbetering behoeven;
