Member States shall ensure that no confidential information is disclosed by the persons referred to in paragraph 1 and that the possible effects of disclosing information on the public interest as regards financial, monetary or economic policy, on the commercial interests of natural and legal persons, on the purpose of inspections, on investigations and on audits, are assessed.

With significant financial investment and decentralised management focused on improving public policy making, accountability and control, Cohesion Policy provides vital support for growth and jobs at local and regional level, where the effects of the financial and economic crisis will be felt by Europe's citizens.

(2) The report of the Committee on Monetary, Financial and Balance of Payments Statistics (CMFB) on statistical requirements in EMU, endorsed by the Ecofin Council of 18 January 1999, underlined that for the proper functioning of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the Single Market, effective surveillance and co-ordination of economic policies are of major importance and that this requires a comprehensive statistical information system providing policy makers with the necessary data on which to base their decisions.
(2) In het op 18 januari 1999 door de Ecofin-Raad goedgekeurde verslag van het Comité voor monetaire, financiële en betalingsbalansstatistiek (CMFB) over de statistische vereisten in de EMU is benadrukt dat voor een goede werking van de Economische en Monetaire Unie (EMU) en de interne markt een doeltreffend toezicht op en coördinatie van het economische beleid van het grootste belang zijn en dat dit een veelomvattend statistisch informatiestelsel vereist, dat de beleidmakers voorziet van de nodige gegevens waarop zij hun besluiten kunnen baseren.

(7) The broad economic policy guidelines and the multilateral surveillance procedure as provided for in Article 99 of the Treaty are at the centre of economic policy coordination; without prejudice to the tasks of the Economic and Financial Committee, the Committee should provide support for the formulation of the guidelines and contribute to the multilateral surveillance procedure in the areas mentioned in this Decision.
(7) De globale richtsnoeren voor het economisch beleid en de procedure van multilateraal toezicht, zoals bedoeld in artikel 99 van het Verdrag, staan centraal in de coördinatie van het economisch beleid. Onverminderd de taken van het Economisch en Financieel Comité moet het comité ondersteuning verlenen voor de uitwerking van de richtsnoeren en bijdragen tot het multilateraal toezicht op de in dit besluit genoemde gebieden.

3. The Commission shall verify at regular intervals, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Committee and in coordination with the IMF, that economic policies in Kosovo are in accordance with the objectives of this assistance and that the agreed economic policy and financial conditions are being satisfactorily fulfilled.
3. De Commissie onderzoekt periodiek, in samenwerking met het Economisch en Financieel Comité en in coördinatie met het IMF, of het economische beleid van Kosovo in overeenstemming is met de doelstellingen van deze bijstand en of aan het overeengekomen economische beleid en aan de financiële voorwaarden op bevredigende wijze wordt voldaan.
