IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

The Commission has requested Belgium, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Poland and Portugal to notify within two months measures to implement EU rules in the financial sector (Directive 2010/78/EU) concerning the powers of the three new European supervisory authorities for banks (European Banking Authority), insurance and occupational pensions (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) and securities (European Securities and Markets Authority).
De Commissie heeft België, Frankrijk, Griekenland, Luxemburg, Polen en Portugal verzocht om binnen twee maanden mededeling te doen van de maatregelen tot uitvoering van de EU-regels in de financiële sector (Richtlijn 2010/78/EU) betreffende de bevoegdheden van de drie nieuwe Europese toezichthoudende autoriteiten voor banken (Europese Bankautoriteit), verzekeringen en bedrijfspensioenen (Europese Autoriteit voor Verzekeringen en Bedrijfspensioenen) en effecten (Europese Autoriteit voor effecten en markten).

This is complemented by three sectoral European supervisory authorities: the European Banking Authority (EBA – London), the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA – Frankfurt), and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA – Paris) .

It involves the creation both of a European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), which will provide macro-prudential oversight of the financial system, and three supervisory authorities: a European Banking Authority (EBA); a European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority and a European Securities and Markets Authority.
