For the protection and promotion of cultural heritage comprising urban historical sites and landscapes, which are an integral part of the cultural diversity that the Union is committed to respecting and promoting in accordance with Article 167(4) TFEU, the definitions and principles developed in relevant Council of Europe Conventions, in particular the European Convention for the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage of 6 May 1969, the Convention for the Protection of the Architectural Heritage of Europe of 3 October 1985, the European Landscape Convention of 20 October 2000, the Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society of 27 October 2005 can be useful.
Voor de bescherming en bevordering van cultureel erfgoed met inbegrip van historische stadslocaties en waardevolle landschappen, die een integraal onderdeel vormen van de culturele verscheidenheid die de Unie krachtens artikel 167, lid 4, VWEU dient te eerbiedigen en te bevorderen, kunnen de definities en beginselen die zijn opgenomen in de toepasselijke verdragen van de Raad van Europa, met name de Europese Overeenkomst inzake de bescherming van het archeologisch erfgoed van 6 mei 1969, de Overeenkomst inzake het behoud van het architectonische erfgoed van Europa van 3 oktober 1985, het Europees Landschapsverdrag van 20 oktober 2000 en de Kaderconventie over de waarde van cultureel erfgoed voor de samenleving van 27 oktober 2005 nuttig zijn.

The Parties, in conformity with their respective legislation and without prejudice to the reservations included in their commitments in the other provisions of this Agreement, shall encourage, in the framework of appropriate programmes, exchanges of expertise and best practices regarding the protection of cultural heritage sites and historic monuments bearing in mind the UNESCO world heritage mission, including through facilitating the exchange of experts, collaboration on professional training, awareness of the local public and counselling on the protection of the historic monuments and protected spaces and on the legislation and implementation of measures related to heritage, in particular its integration into local life.
