In order to protect human health and/or the environment in specific agglomerations or ecologically sensitive areas with special problems of air quality, Member States would be permitted - subject to a derogation requested in advance and backed up by evidence - to require that fuels sold in these areas comply with more stringent environmental specifications than those established under the Directive.
Ter bescherming van de volksgezondheid en/of het milieu in specifieke agglomeraties of ecologisch gevoelige gebieden met speciale problemen in verband met de luchtkwaliteit kan lidstaten, op grond van een vooraf ingediend en met bewijsstukken onderbouwd verzoek om een afwijking, worden toegestaan te eisen dat de in die gebieden verkochte brandstof voldoet aan strengere milieuspecificaties dan in de richtlijn is vastgesteld.
