Given the fact that crafts and small businesses provide employment for more than 53% of Europe’s workforce (around 80 million people), that they are responsible for half of Europe’s total turnover and are the main driver for innovation as well as social and local integration in Europe, will the Commission consider the possibility of specifically creating the post of Commissioner for SMEs and the Craft Sector in recognition of the central role this sector plays in job creation throughout Europe, including Ireland?

According to UEAPME, the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, "tax-related compliance costs for small businesses are up to 100 times higher than for large companies"[15].
