In the course of the last three years, the Commission has sought a closer integration of the Europe Direct services – the Europe Direct Contact Centre and the Network of around 450 Europe Direct Information Centres, and Your Europe-Citizens web portal in order to provide citizens with a fully multilingual and multichannel information platform: online, by telephone, by e-mail and in person.

Where the Rescue Coordination Centre of a third country responsible for the search and rescue region does not respond to the information transmitted by the participating unit, the latter shall contact the Rescue Coordination Centre of the host Member State unless that participating unit considers that another internationally recognised Rescue Coordination Centre is better able to assume coordination of the search and rescue situation.

SOLVIT centres should be in regular contact and cooperate closely with their national EU Pilot Contact Points, in order to secure a proper exchange of information on cases and complaints received.

1. In the event of a major emergency within the participating States or imminent threat thereof, which causes or is capable of causing transboundary effects or which may result in a call for assistance through the Monitoring and Information Centre from one or more countries, the competent authority and/or contact points of the State in which the emergency is imminent or has occurred, shall without delay inform the Monitoring and Information Centre via the established communication channels.

9. Whereas small enterprises have difficulty in gaining access to traditional information sources, and lack information; whereas targeted information activities should be organised for small enterprises; whereas professionals and institutions, including chambers of commerce, having contact with small enterprises should keep up their awareness-raising and information efforts; whereas the Commission will continue to make available to small enterprises, in particular through the Euro-Info Centres network, practical tools tailored to their needs;
