This proposal concerns the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), which was established in 1965 to meet some of the requirements of the common agricultural policy (CAP), in particular those relating to the certification of income and a business analysis of agricultural holdings.

As far as possible, such information shall be based on established sources of data, such as the Farm Accountancy Data Network and Eurostat. The Commission shall take into account the data needs and synergies between potential data sources, in particular their use for statistical purposes when appropriate.
