The technical and operational specifications set out in the annex to Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2017/224 provide that the general specifications of the ‘CS high precision’ service offered by the commercial service envisage a positioning error of less than a decimetre and that access to this ‘CS high precision’ service, monitored by one or more service providers, is subject to a fee depending on the pricing policy in force.

Article 4(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1987/2006 and Article 4(3) of Decision 2007/533/JHA provide that CS-SIS, which performs technical supervision and administration functions, shall be located in Strasbourg (France) and a backup CS-SIS, capable of ensuring all functionalities of the principal CS-SIS in the event of failure of this system, shall be located in Sankt Johann im Pongau (Austria).

1. Logs recording the information referred to in Article 18(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1987/2006 and Article 18(1) of Decision 2007/533/JHA relating to every access to and all exchanges of personal data within the CS-SIS shall be kept securely stored on, and accessible from, the premises where the principal CS-SIS and the backup CS-SIS are located for the maximum period referred to in Article 18(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1987/2006 and Article 18(3) of Decision 2007/533/JHA.

The scope of this test exercise includes testing the connectivity and the resilience of the SIS II communication infrastructure between CS-SIS and each NI-SIS, between the CS-SIS and backup CS-SIS as well as the resilience of the Local National Interfaces (LNI) and, where applicable, the Back-up Local National Interfaces (BLNI).
