TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

The WTO Agreement on Textiles and Clothing and all of its restrictions on imports of textiles and clothing were repealed on 1 January 2005.
Op 1 januari 2005 is de Overeenkomst inzake textiel en kleding van de WTO afgeschaft, met inbegrip van alle beperkingen voor de invoer van textiel die daaruit voortvloeiden.

Thus, the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC) provided for the gradual dismantling of the MFA by 1 January 2005.
De Overeenkomst inzake textiel en kleding voorzag dus in een geleidelijke ontbinding van de Multivezelovereenkomst voor 1 januari 2005.

In preparation, the Commission set up a High Level Group for textiles and clothing at the beginning of 2004. The Group comprised representatives of the Commission and the European Parliament, some Member States, industrialists, retailers and importers, European trade associations, trade unions and representatives of local textile and clothing associations, and its mandate was to put forward recommendations in order to improve the sector's competitiveness and facilitate its adjustment to future challenges.

I refer to the end of the transitional period for the ATC Agreement on Textiles and Clothing.

Council Regulation 2200/2004 thus marks the end of the Agreement on Textile and Clothing as far as the European Union is concerned, and it also provides for a surveillance system to be put in place as of 1 January 2005 to monitor imports of the most sensitive textiles and clothing.
Derhalve markeert Verordening nr. 2200/2004 van de Raad het einde van het akkoord over textiel en kleding voorzover het de Europese Unie aangaat. Let me also remind you, with regard more specifically to the expiry of the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing, that the end of quotas and the integration of trade in textiles and clothing into the GATT were one of the main demands of the developing countries during the Uruguay Round.
