Article -1 This Regulation recognises the vital importance of conservation zones in the development of a sustainable fisheries policy and accepts the key position of the Irish Box as one of the Union's most sensitive nursery and spawning grounds; consequently Regulations (EC) No 2847/93 and (EC) No 685/95 shall be maintained for a period of ten years; at the end of this period ICES and STECF shall carry out a review to establish whether the policy of restricted access has assisted in meeting the objectives of the cod recovery plan in rebuilding endangered whitefish stocks.
