This Regulation and Directive 2010/84/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2010 amending, as regards pharmacovigilance, Directive 2001/83/EC on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use widen the tasks of the Agency with regard to pharmacovigilance, including the monitoring of literature cases, the improved use of information technology tools and the provision of more information to the general public.
Le présent règlement et la directive 2010/84/UE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 15 décembre 2010 modifiant, en ce qui concerne la pharmacovigilance, la directive 2001/83/CE instituant un code communautaire relatif aux médicaments à usage humain élargissent les missions de l’Agence dans le domaine de la pharmacovigilance, y compris la veille bibliographique, l’amélioration des outils informatiques d’information et la mise à disposition du public de plus d’informations.

In this connection, and in some exceptional cases (methodological visits), the Commission (Eurostat) should have additional rights of access to a widened scope of information for the needs of data quality assessment, in full compliance with Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2009 on European statistics as regards professional independence.

Welcomes the fact that the proposed scope of the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive has been widened as regards gambling; calls on the Commission to propose a legislative framework and appropriate measures to combat money laundering linked to betting, in particular sports betting, specifying new offences such as betting-related match fixing and laying down penalties of appropriate severity and supporting monitoring arrangements involving sports federations, associations, online and offline operators and, where necessary, national authorities; urges sports organisations to establish a code of conduct for all staff with a clear prohibition on manipulating matches for betting or other purposes, a ban on gambling on own matches and an obligation to report awareness of match-fixing with an adequate whistleblower protection mechanism;

Like many of my fellow Members, I deplore the fact that the Council has further reduced an already meagre budget: the commitment appropriations of the draft budget represent a total amount of EUR 134 billion, that is to say, a shortfall of EUR 469 million with regard to the PDB, even though the payments stand at EUR 115 billion, this being a decrease of EUR 1.8 billion. The payments are thus limited to 0.89% of GNI, that is to say, an unprecedented level that is drastically widening the gap between commitments and payments and this is something that goes against budgetary discipline.
Comme de nombreux collègues, je déplore le fait que le Conseil ait encore réduit un budget déjà maigre: les crédits d’engagement du projet de budget représentent au total 134 milliards d’euros, c’est-à-dire un recul de 469 millions d’euros par rapport à l’APB, alors que les paiements se situent à 115 milliards d’euros, en recul de 1,8 milliard d’euros, se limitant ainsi à 0,89 % du RNB, soit un niveau sans précédent et creusant drastiquement l’écart entre engagements et paiements, ce qui est contraire à la discipline budgétaire.

I should also like to congratulate the Greek Presidency on the results of the Brussels Council held last week. The Council was devoted in particular to consideration of the so-called Lisbon process. During debates and discussion at Strasbourg it had already emerged that we have little to congratulate ourselves on in this regard. In terms of productivity and competitiveness, the gap between Europe and the United States has not narrowed. On the contrary, it is now actually widening.
