The report shall examine the result of the dialogue between the EU and the USA and in particular whether Energy Star specifications are effective enough.

Within two years of the entry into force of this Regulation, and prior to any renewal of the Agreement, the Commission shall review the Energy Star Programme in the light of the experience gained during its operation. The review shall in particular examine whether Energy Star requirements are ambitious enough and whether the European Union has been able to assert its position adequately in the dialogue with the United States.

9. INVITES the Commission, in co-operation with Member States, to explore the need for and the feasibility of Community energy efficiency labelling for consumer electronic equipment, in this regard UNDERLINES the importance of co-operation with parties within and outside the Community; REMINDING the Commission to come forward as soon as possible with the results of the "Energy Star" negotiations with the USA to enable the Council to consider approval and to provide evidence whether this label could contribute to a considerable reduction of the stand-by losses of office equipment in the light of the criteria mentioned above.
INVITE la Commission, en coopération avec les Etats membres, à examiner la nécessité et la faisabilité d'un étiquetage communautaire concernant l'efficacité énergétique pour l'équipement électronique grand public ; SOULIGNE à cet égard l'importance de la coopération avec les parties tant à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur de la Communauté ; RAPPELANT à la Commission qu'elle doit présenter dans les meilleurs délais un rapport sur les résultats des négociations "Energy Star" avec les Etats-Unis, afin de permettre au Conseil d'en envisager l'approbation et de fournir la preuve que cet étiquetage pourrait contribuer à réduire considérablement les pertes en mode veille du matériel de bureau, à la lumière des critères précités.
