Mr. Dale Johnston (Wetaskiwin, Ref.): Madam Speaker, I have a petition signed by members of the towns of Wetaskiwin, Millet and Leduc in my riding who want to call the attention of parliament to the following: “Whereas the majority of Canadians understand the concept of marriage as only the voluntary union of a single, that is, unmarried male and a single, that is, unmarried female, it is the duty of parliament to ensure that marriage, as it has always been known and understood in Canada, be preserved and protected”.

Dale Johnston (Wetaskiwin, Réf.): Madame la Présidente, j'ai à présenter une pétition signée par des habitants des villes de Wetaskiwin, Millet et Leduc, dans ma circonscription, qui veulent attirer l'attention du Parlement sur ceci: «Attendu que la majorité des Canadiens comprennent la notion de mariage comme étant uniquement l'union volontaire d'un homme célibataire et d'une femme célibataire, le Parlement a le devoir de s'assurer que le mariage, tel qu'il a toujours été connu et compris au Canada, soit préservé et protégé».
