Firstly we were dealing with extending and deepening the definition of what it means to be a minority in the enlarged European Union. But we were also dealing with unfinished business: we were dealing with the response to the Green Paper on anti-discrimination.

Under this programme, national conferences on the fight against discrimination were held in a number of Member States, brochures, CDs and leaflets were published, a "diversity truck tour" took place and other activities were financed, such as the Rome Marathon, the theme of which was "I'm running against racism".
