While making an appeal for the Italian version of the documents to contain the Italian translation of all the terms contained therein – despite my love of the English language, and of French, for that matter – I would like to say that I voted for Mrs Kauppi’s report. On this, as on many other occasions, Mrs Kauppi has demonstrated her competence and her abilities in analysing the financial and economic problems of Europe, particularly the problems of pensioners and elderly people who invest their money in banks and various funds for their future. In fact, she has done so well that I could appoint Mrs Kauppi honorary Chairman of the Pensioners’ Party, which, given the fact that she is one of the youngest Members of the European Parliament, would bring honour to our party.
Hormis le fait que je lance un appel pour que la version italienne des documents comporte la traduction de tous les mots contenus dans les autres - je dis cela bien que j’aime énormément la langue anglaise, et la langue française aussi, d’ailleurs -, je tiens à dire que j’ai voté en faveur du rapport de Mme Kauppi, qui a donné la preuve en cette occasion - comme en tant d’autres - de sa compétence, de sa capacité à examiner les problèmes financiers et économiques de l’Europe, en particulier les problèmes des personnes âgées et des retraités qui investissent leur argent dans les banques et dans les différents fonds pour leur avenir ; à ce point que je pourrais nommer Mme Kauppi présidente honoraire du parti des retraités, chose qui, étant donné qu’elle est une des plus jeunes députées de notre Parlement, donnerait du lustre à notre parti.

I realize that some may think that we work very well in English, but when one is looking for the exact wording, when one wants to know exactly what one said the day before - especially in my case, as I sometimes do not prepare long speeches and I want to be certain that what I said is reported correctly - I like to read the Debates of the Senate, in case I need to make corrections.
