Because of our Rules, the attribution of public funds, particularly to the opposition, and the need for justification, it is important that each senator who claims to be a Liberal senator and who wants Senator Cowan to be the party leader write to the Clerk stating that he or she wants to sit in the Senate as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada and supports the decision to designate Senator Cowan as the party's opposition leader.
Aux fins de clarifications, sur le plan du public, de nos règlements, des dépenses des deniers publics attribués, à l'opposition particulièrement, et de la justification, il apparaît important de requérir de chaque sénateur qui se dit sénateur libéral et qui veut le sénateur Cowan comme leader de son parti qu'il écrive au greffier pour déclarer qu'il veut siéger au Sénat sous la bannière libérale du Canada, et qu'il participe à la décision de désigner le sénateur Cowan comme leader de l'opposition de son parti.
