Definition: The common themes that are shared by dissociative or conversion disorders are a partial or complete loss of the normal integration between memories of the past, awareness of identity and immediate sensations, and control of bodily movements. All types of dissociative disorders tend to remit after a few weeks or months, particularly if their onset is associated with a traumatic life event. More chronic disorders, particularly paralyses and anaesthesias, may develop if the onset is associated with insoluble problems or interpersonal difficulties. These disorders have previously been classified as various types of conversion hysteria . They are presumed to be psychogenic in origin, being associated closely in time with traumatic events, insoluble and intolerable problems, or disturbed relationships. The symptoms often represent the patient's concept of how a physical illness would be manifest. Medical examination and investigation do not reveal the presence of any known physical or neurological disorder. - Monsieur le Président, Madame le Commissaire, Monsieur le Ministre, ces trois derniers jours se sont tenues les Journées européennes du développement où l’on a évoqué abondamment la crise alimentaire qui touche gravement les pays les plus pauvres, et les interventions ont toutes insisté sur la nécessité absolue, pour les pays en voie de développement, de développer leur propre agriculture en utilisant de façon optimale leurs terres et les ressources naturelles.

I have attempted to reproduce the main principals of those resolutions. After having pointed out that regional development policy is aimed at facilitating the development of EU regions and that public aid should not serve to encourage the relocation of economic activities, the report voted on by our Committee on Regional Development goes on to propose the adoption, both at Community and at national level, of measures designed to prevent, on the one hand, the potential negative consequences that relocations might have for economic development and, on the other, the social tragedies caused by these relocations.
Après avoir rappelé que la politique du développement régional a pour objectif de favoriser le développement des régions de l’Union européenne et que les aides publiques ne doivent pas servir à stimuler les délocalisations d’activités économiques, le rapport voté par notre commission du développement régional propose l’adoption, tant au niveau communautaire qu’au niveau national, de mesures destinées à prévenir les conséquences négatives potentielles des délocalisations sur le développement économique ainsi que les drames sociaux générés par celles-ci.
