TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

Should some of the structural concerns identified above materialise, far-reaching action will be required to ensure that the vast European fund sector will be equipped with the right tools, and that European investors enjoy a high level of protection, as they enter the next decade.

The ten measures that are prioritised will vastly improve the climate for investing and raising capital on an EU basis (directives on Prospectuses, Pension Funds, UCITS, Market Manipulation, European Company Statute, Take Over Bids Directive, a Securities Committee and the follow-up to the Accounting Communication; Comunications on upgrading and clarifying the ISD. They would constitute a significant step towards establishing a common legal framework for securities markets and introducing a single set of financial statements for EU listed companies. At the same time, EU consumers should benefit from cross-border competition. This will only be the case if they are sufficiently protected and have confidence in the on-line and off-line EU financial marketplace.
Les dix mesures jugées prioritaires amélioreront considérablement les conditions présidant à l'investissement et à la levée de capitaux au niveau de l'UE (directives sur les prospectus, les fonds de retraite, les OPCVM et la manipulation des marchés, définition du statut de la société européenne, directive sur les offres publiques d'acquisition, création d'un comité des valeurs mobilières et suivi de la communication sur la stratégie comptable; communications sur l'actualisation et la clarification de la DSI). Elles devraient permettre des avancées décisives vers la mise en place d'un cadre légal pour les marchés de valeurs mobilières et vers l'uniformisation des états financiers des entreprises cotées de l'UE. La concurrence transfrontalière devrait aussi profiter aux consommateurs de l'UE. Mais il n'en sera ainsi que si les consommateurs sont suffisamment protégés et ont confiance dans les services proposés, en ligne ou non, sur la place financière de l'UE.

This will complement the vast array of EU funding programmes such as European Structural and Investment Funds and the European Network of Defence-related Regions, as well as the role of national or regional promotional banks.

According to recent figures published in the Greek press, the vast majority (35%) of Community education and training programmes in Greece are carried out by only 4% of the vocational training centres certified by the competent ministry to carry out measures funded by the European Social Fund. There is therefore concern that underutilisation of the other vocational training centres will affect the quality of the services they provide.
