The Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina deposited their instruments of acceptance with the depositary of the Convention on 26 March 2012 and 26 September 2014 respectively.

1. Should either the European Union or Bosnia and Herzegovina give notice in writing to the depositary of the Convention of their intention to withdraw from the Convention according to Article 9 thereof, the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina shall immediately enter into negotiations on rules of origin for the purpose of implementing this Agreement.

Notwithstanding Article 2, the application of Regulation (EC) No 1215/2009 with regard to Bosnia and Herzegovina shall not be suspended if, before 1 January 2016, the Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina sign and apply provisionally an agreement on the adaptation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and the Interim Agreement to take into account the accession of Croatia to the European Union.

If, by the time of the adoption of this Regulation, an agreement on the adaptation of the trade concessions set out in the Stabilisation and Association Agreement has not been signed and provisionally applied by the Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the preferences granted to Bosnia and Herzegovina should be suspended as from 1 January 2016.

The mandate of the EUSR shall be based on the following policy objectives of the Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH): continued progress in the Stabilisation and Association Process, with the aim of a stable, viable, peaceful and multi-ethnic and united BiH, cooperating peacefully with its neighbours and irreversibly on track towards membership of the Union.
