First, I would like to comment on how ironic it is that what we are dealing with in this debate is an unelected and undemocratic chamber trying to impose the splitting of a bill, while here in the House of Commons, which ought to be the democratic counterbalance to the other place, we are again having imposed upon us a time allocation motion, thereby depriving members of the privileges they ought to be entitled to as elected representatives within a representative democracy.
D'abord, je veux souligner combien il est ironique dans ce débat que ce soit une Chambre non élue et non démocratique qui tente d'imposer la division du projet de loi, et qu'à la Chambre des communes, qui devrait normalement être le contrepoids démocratique de l'autre Chambre, on nous impose encore une fois une motion d'attribution de temps, privant ainsi les députés de privilèges qu'ils devraient avoir en tant qu'élus dans une démocratie représentative.
